Milestones on the stakeholder timeline

Milestones on the stakeholder timeline

A stakeholder's plan page now shows what is coming as well as what has happened. Vesting dates, the next valuation, and any payment trigger the plan carries all sit on one timeline, with the amount each one is worth at today's valuation.

Owners see the same timeline from the admin side, across every stakeholder at once. It is the answer to the question we get asked more than any other, which is some version of what happens next and when.

Improvements
  • The plan page loads the timeline before the valuation history, so the thing most people came for paints first.
  • Dates follow the workspace locale rather than always rendering US order.
  • A milestone that has passed keeps its position rather than dropping off, so the timeline reads as a record and not only as a forecast.
Fixes
  • A plan with no payment trigger no longer renders an empty timeline section.
  • Accelerated vesting on a qualifying event now moves the milestone rather than adding a second one.

Valuations now read three years of financials

Valuations now read three years of financials

The valuation wizard used to work from a single year. It now takes up to three and weights the most recent one hardest, which is closer to how a buyer would look at the same business and noticeably kinder to an owner who had one bad year.

Nothing you have already run changes. The new weighting applies to valuations dated from today, and every previous valuation keeps the number it was signed off with.

Improvements
  • Add-backs carry forward between years rather than being re-entered for each one.
  • The wizard warns before you finish if a year looks like it is missing an owner salary.
Process

Every plan now starts with a launch call

Every plan now starts with a launch call

Plans that get explained out loud get understood, and plans that get understood keep people. So before a plan goes live, we now sit down with the owner and walk through exactly what their team is about to be told, in the words their team will hear.

It is included on every paid plan and takes about forty minutes. Nothing is required of you beforehand.

Award letters for stakeholders holding more than one award

Award letters for stakeholders holding more than one award

A stakeholder with both a foundational and a performance based award was getting two separate letters that each read as though it were the whole picture. They now get one letter that covers every award they hold, with a combined total at the top and each award set out underneath.

Letters already sent are unaffected. Regenerating one produces the combined version.

Fixes
  • The combined total now rounds once at the end rather than once per award.
  • A stakeholder holding a stock award and a profit award sees both, where previously the profit award was omitted from the letter entirely.
  • The signature block no longer repeats when a letter runs onto a third page.

Profit sharing pools can be split by department

Profit sharing pools can be split by department

One pool across a whole company rewards the install crew for what the service department did. Pools can now be defined per department, each with its own share of profit and its own participants, and a stakeholder can sit in more than one.

The plan document generates from whichever shape you choose, so a departmental plan is no more paperwork than a company wide one.

Improvements
  • A participant moved between departments keeps their service date.
  • The payout preview shows the company total and the department total side by side.
API
  • POST /v1/profit-pools accepts a department field.
  • GET /v1/stakeholders/:id returns every pool a stakeholder participates in rather than the first.

Reins is now a Nexstar Network partner

Reins is now a Nexstar Network partner

Nexstar members can start a plan with Reins at member pricing, and we are running quarterly sessions on alternative equity through the network. The first one, with Wirenut Home Services, is up on the site.

If you are a member, the discount applies from your first invoice and there is nothing to claim.

Improved

Plan documents generate in seconds rather than minutes

Plan documents generate in seconds rather than minutes

Generating a full plan document used to take long enough that owners left the tab and came back. It now finishes while you are still looking at it, including the longer stock plans with an accelerated vesting schedule attached.

Improvements
  • Documents render server side, so a slow laptop no longer makes a slow document.
  • A document you have already generated opens from cache rather than being rebuilt.

Keep the people who run it like you do
